Inglorious Basterds

'This indeed is my masterpiece' finishes off Raines as he brands the Nazi symbol of a swastika on the forehead of Franz Lamda. I couldn't agree with him more. This indeed is a masterpiece Mr Tarantino.
With this cinematic Mona Lisa, Quentin has just raised the bar of movie making that much higher. For some strange reason, i'm compelled to draw a parallel with not only legendary creators such as De Sica, Stanley Kubrick, Ingmar Bergman, Satyajit Ray and many others but also with a mixed bag of artists such as Dickens, Tolstoy, Tolkien, Da Vinci, Monet and other greats. One might ask, ' What am i shooting for ? ' I'd say, the only difference in all the above is the medium with which they chose to tell their respective stories.
I must confess though that i'm not a big fan of playing around with historical facts such as the killing of the Fuhrer. Also, i had great expectations from Franz Lamda and would have loved to see a pitched battle between Lamda and the army of Basterds.
Notwithstanding minor corrections, i couldn't remember blinking more than once throughout the screening. Maybe i'll watch it again to savor that nano second i must have missed.

I Don't Honk - Kolkata Chapter

We have all honked our way ahead on the streets of Kolkata. That's the way it is always meant to be. Precisely why our ugly behemoths -namely trucks and lorries have it written on the back - Horn Ok Please. So that's imbibed in our culture. Everyone subconsciously agrees to this sound of music. In the culture that we have collectively amassed; it is a widely acceptable norm. In fact, there are various categories of honking : 1. The Big car irritable long honks - Get out of my way you slow moving vehicle. Can't you see I'm wheeling an expensive drive. Well, only to be stuck 50 meters ahead in traffic. 2. The taxi horn that goes honk honk after every 30 seconds. They sometimes do it even at the traffic light just because they get bored and are often times without a music player. 3. Inception- The movie

Flawless execution. To the uninitiated, Inception is a movie that instantly defies conformance. And no one but Chris Nolan could have handled it with so much specific-ity ( you'll know what i mean if you've seen the movie ). The movie traverses a dreamers voyage. YOU are the dreamer, we all are. I found a profound message hidden in one of the layers of the entire idea. All of us live in a dreamscape and the only true nature of our environment is elusiveness. Nothing lasts. We are all lucid dreamers. Stop waiting for the kick to settle in. Bon voyage.
